MAN ADMITS TO SMUGLING HEROIN TO BROTHER IN JAIL

SYRACUSE - A 32 year-old Syracuse man admits he smuggled heroin into the city jail for his brother, who later almost died of an overdose.

Marc Chetney pleaded guilty Wednesday to a single felony count of first-degree promoting prison contraband.  Authorities said he passed the heroin to his 30 year-old brother, Sean, during a contact visit Nov.  24.

Sean Chetney, in jail on a parole violation, was found unconscious in his cell the next morning.

Marc Chetney will be sentenced next month to serve two to four years in state prison.  Sean Chetney is back in state prison for violating parole.
