POT LAW OUT OF WHACK

Under the new drunken driving bill passed by the Legislature, drunken
drivers, who endanger countless innocent lives each time they climb
behind the wheel, will not face a felony until their fourth
conviction. Traffic tickets. No big deal.

Now let's look at our state's marijuana law. Currently, if an
individual is arrested for growing a single marijuana plant in the
privacy of their home, regardless of the plant's size, intended solely
for one's private use, that individual is facing a felony and a
potential prison sentence of more than three years and a $10,000 fine.

An individual arrested a second time for simple possession, regardless
the amount of marijuana, also faces a felony with the same penalties.
I don't smoke marijuana, but I do wonder about our insane laws.
