IS LEGAL POT ERODING BRECK'S FAMILY IMAGE?

We brought our family to Breckenridge for the first time the Christmas of
1978; our dear friends also brought their family, so there were 10 of us.
Our children still count it as one of their best Christmases ever. Two of
our now grown children live in Colorado and one is raising her family here
and we own a condo.

My concern is what is happening to the image of the town and ski area.
Sunday I read the 12 page New York Times Ski Guide for 2010. On the
opposite page titled "Getting Back to Family Values" was the only mention
of Breckenridge: "Breckenridge may become the Amsterdam of the Rockies,
thanks to a new ordinance that decriminalizes small amounts of marijuana."
It goes on to say a romantic luxury (yet unfinished) spa is coming with two
very upscale properties.

In light of your recent headline about the medical marijuana grow operation
catching on fire with its production of hash: Medical marijuana is a good
thing, but change the law, have doctor's write prescriptions and have them
filled at pharmacies with FDA regulations. All and all, it doesn't sound
like Breckenridge wants to maintain the image of a "family mountain," which
they had in spades - better than any other resort in the state.
