IS IT SURPRISING HOW EASY IT IS TO SCORE HARD DRUGS IN
VANCOUVER?

Less than 10 minutes. That's how long it takes to buy hard drugs like
crystal meth and crack cocaine according to a study released Tuesday
by the B.C. Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS. More disturbingly, the
study, which interviewed more than 2,000 drug users over a 10-year
period, showed crystal meth and crack use is on the rise, particularly
among street youth. But while the exhaustive study may shock policy
makers into supporting initiatives like a supervised inhalation site,
most people on Lonsdale said the results didn't tell them anything
they didn't already know.

Not at all. Just it's such a big city that we have the opportunity
anywhere. You walk down the street and people ask you, 'Do you want
this, do you want that.'

ANDA LALANDE

North Vancouver

No not really just because there seems to be a lot of access to that
type of environment. You could just live next door to someone that
sells it.

JAY GERSHBEIN

North Vancouver

Not at all. Vancouver has a reputation that allows for easy access to
buying crack or any other type of drugs.

BRANDY ZACKS

Surrey

No because I was living that lifestyle up until eight months ago, and
I just got clean and sober. . . . I could get it in under 10 minutes.

KYLENE VAN DOK

Not really. Everyone's really interested in it right now and they want
to explore, so it's natural there'd be a lot of people selling it.
