METH PROJECT REALL WORKS

Editor:

I wanted to echo the Tribune's positive portrayal of the progress our
community has made in the fight against meth in its coverage of the
6th Annual Wyoming Methamphetamine and Substance Abuse Conference
("Wyo Meth Project uses graphic images to show horrors of meth,"
Jan. 7). The launch of the Wyoming Meth Project -- which serves as
the key prevention arm of our meth initiative -- shows just how far
we've come since we came together to form the Casper Meth Initiative
(CMI).

Today, we have a successful model that other Wyoming communities who
are just beginning to tackle meth can use as a guide. The graphic
advertising seen around Wyoming, along with the community outreach
and education programs the CMI has initiated, are changing people's
attitudes about meth and educating them about how dangerous this drug
truly is.

Because of our action, we are seeing progress in the fight against
meth in Wyoming. It is time to redouble our effort, have people young
and old get involved and communities take action. Meth prevention and
education can work to finish the job in Wyoming.
