MAN SHOT IN GROW-RIP NOT RELATED: COPS

A morning shooting yesterday that sent one man to the hospital isn't
linked to the rush-hour shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon, said
police.

"All indications are that this was a grow-rip that went bad," said
Abbotsford Police Const. Casey Vinet. "There is no indication that this is
connected to the shooting on Tuesday."

At 1:45 a.m. Thursday, APD officers were called to a home in the 28200
block of Huntingdon Road near Bradner Road to find a man lying in the
driveway, suffering a gunshot wound to the stomach.

The victim, 42, was taken to the hospital and was expected to undergo
surgery.

A police dog team found two other men, also considered victims, on the
property. Vinet said it seems the men had been tied up with zap straps in
an outbuilding but managed to break free and escape.

They were otherwise uninjured and are being questioned by police.

A "very organized" marijuana grow operation was also found on the
property, said Vinet.

No arrests were made, but police are looking for at least two male
suspects who wore masks at the time of the shooting.

A red 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche stolen from the Huntingdon Road property
was found by police in Surrey late yesterday morning.
