CONFRONT METH BY LEARNING AND TALKING ABOUT IT

A powerful TV event will take place Wednesday night. Be sure to sit
back and watch closely.

It might be painful to watch, but the message and resulting dialogue
must take place if we are to fight methamphetamine in our communities.

At 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, on most of the major networks, Childhelp's
Crystal Darkness," including stories from Loveland, will air.

The documentary approach to educating the public about meth started
in Nevada in 2006. The organization has since filmed local stories
and aired information in Las Vegas, Oregon, San Diego, Sacramento,
New Mexico and Arizona.

The Colorado state effort came together because of the tireless
efforts of various law enforcement agencies and drug-fighting groups
including the Coalition of Loveland for Education, Awareness and
Resources, known as CLEAR.

The documentary is geared toward educating parents about meth use and
abuse. Everyone, though, should watch because meth touches many areas
of our lives whether we realize it or not.

Crystal Darkness" serves as one step toward shining light on the problem.

Watch as a family. Watch as a parent organization. Watch as a church group.

But most importantly, follow through and talk about it.

Awareness and discussion are the first steps in the fight against and
recovery from meth addiction.
