JAILER CHARGED WITH PROVIDING DRUGS TO INMATE

GRAHAM - An Alamance County detention officer was fired after
allegedly providing drugs to an inmate.

Jo Ann Hensley, 58 of Mebane was arrested Wednesday following an
investigation that she was allegedly delivering prohibited items,
including marijuana, to inmate Jean Christopher Jerez, 18 of Graham,
the sheriff's office said in a news release.

The alleged incidents occurred from Aug. 11 to 13, officials said.
Hensley, who had been employed at the sheriff's office for five
years, was taken into custody without incident and placed in jail
under a $2,500 bond at the Alamance County jail.

Officials plan to charge Jerez with possession of a controlled
substance on the jail premises in connection with the investigation.
