DRUG SALES OUT OF CONTROL

Dear editor,

You have to respect people like Gloria Walkus and Connie Rufus-Alfred
for making the effort to improve this corner of the world.

The sad fact is, for as many people that want the drug dealers gone,
there are just as many who want them to stay.

Drug dealing in this town is practically a cottage industry. All the
drug dealers who were in business when I moved here 28 years ago are
still at it, along with all the newcomers.

The reason is obvious. There seems to be a reluctance on behalf of
the criminal protection system to convict these filthy parasites. In
spite of the best efforts of the RCMP, the over-paid and under-worked
judges turn a blind eye to carnage that drug dealers inflict on society.

I think, if we elected judges rather than them having them be
appointed, they would have to do their jobs or be unemployed. Drug
dealers in most of the world are dealt with harshly when convicted
and great effort is made to eliminate them.

Sadly, in Canada, the whole illegal drug industry is not taken seriously.
