CARRIO HINTS AT ALLIANCE WITH MACRI BEYOND CITY

The centrist Civic Coalition is considering forging a political
alliance with Buenos Aires Mayor Mauricio Macri's centre-right
coalition PRO nationwide. But Elisa Carrio, the coalition's head,
ruled out the idea of both parties presenting joint candidates in
Buenos Aires City in next year's mid-term election.

Carrio and Macri are both based in Buenos Aires and are rivals.

Meanwhile, Carrio also said she was in favour of decriminalizing
drug possession for personal use in Argentina, while she warned
about the links between drug trafficking and politics."Drug
trafficking in Argentina is strongly linked to politics. We
should always be suspicious about (Justice Minister)
Anibal Fernandez," she added.

Reports say the Supreme Court is poised to decriminalize the
possession of narcotics for personal use early next year. But the
Argentine Anti-drug Association warned that decriminalization would
be counterproductive.
