NARCOTICS-RAID TARGETS FINED

Two men who tried to argue the drug raid in which they were arrested
was unconstitutional, only to abandon the challenge after a week in
court, were handed fines at their sentencing hearing Friday.

Sentencing for a third man who pleaded guilty to the most serious drug
and weapons charges in the case was postponed.

Carlos Antoine Puckerin, 24, was fined $400 for the four grams of
marijuana found in his pocket at the November 2005 raid. He also
forfeited the $800 seized from him by police. Tyson Jerome Huff, 23,
was fined $100 for the 1.2 grams of marijuana found near him on a
coffee table inside the Meadowbrook Lane apartment. Huff, who was on
bail at the time of the drug raid, was also sentenced to 45 days in
jail and 12 month's probation for breaching a court order.

Huff, Puckerin and Guneyt Mehmet Turker, 22, went to court earlier
this month to challenge the lawfulness of the commando-style police
raid in which they were arrested. Six officers, wearing balaclavas and
armed with submachine-guns, broke down the front door of the
apartment at 2611Meadowbrook Lane, then tossed in a stun grenade.
Officers used Tasers to subdue and handcuff Turker and Huff, who were
found inside.

Inside the apartment, police found 53.5 grams of crack cocaine
packaged ready for sale, 3.4 grams of powdered cocaine, two digital
scales and what appeared to be a drug deal debt list. They also found
a sawed-off Browning 22-gauge shotgun.

Turker pleaded guilty to weapon charges and possession of cocaine for
the purpose of trafficking. At the time of the raid, Turker and Huff
were both on bail, with conditions not to associate with each other.
Turker also pleaded guilty to violating that condition.

Turker remains free on bail pending his sentencing.
