SHERIFFS DEPUTY FACES POT CHARGE

A Hamilton County sheriffs deputy has resigned after being charged with bringing marijuana into the jail to sell to inmates.  Michael Stephens, 26, is charged with complicity to bring drugs into a cor-rections facility.  He was in court Wednesday but his court appeance was postponed until Sept.  5 so he can hire an attorney.

Stephens, a corrections officer, was hired in May 2004.  Sheriffs spokes-man Steve Barnett said Stephens admitted to bringing small amounts of marijuana into the jail on several occasions.
