POLICE SAY PAIR SMOKED MARIJUANA BEFORE CONCERT

SARNIA - A mother and daughter from Belle River preparing to take in a
Nickelback concert in Sarnia are facing drug charges after an OPP
officer spotted a parked car full of thick smoke by the St. Clair River.

Late Wednesday afternoon the officer, a member of the force's marine
unit, was leaving his boat at a dock and spotted the car parked on
Harbour Road and full of smoke, police say.

The officer approached the vehicle and made contact with the
occupants.

Police say a woman in her forties accompanied by her daughter, in her
twenties, were inside the car smoking marijuana in advance of a
Nickelback concert at Centennial Park in Sarnia, part of the Bayfest
festival.

Police seized 14 marijuana cigarettes and arrested and charged the
pair, who were released on a promise to appear in court Sept. 10.
