PARENTS MUST NOW BE WARY OF DISCARDED NEEDLES IN PARKS

Editor:

I am writing to let people know about a disheartening and appalling
incident that took place last week.

While my three-year-old son was playing in the park area beside Lions
Park, he found and was poked by a used needle. Not a sewing needle,
but a syringe and needle, probably used for drugs, though I will never
know that for sure.

I did not know this was a risk for people using Canmore's green areas,
but I now know it is. Parents be wary of this risk. Drug users PLEASE
respect our parks and dispose of your needles safely. My three year
old and all Canmore residents should be able to play in our parks safely.
