ADDICTIONS CAMPAIGN HAS STUDENTS CREATE PROJECTS
TO  SHOW HARMFUL EFFECTS OF DRUGS

The Order of the Royal Purple  awarded students at J.C.Charyk school
in Hanna as well  as at Youngstown school with certificates and
cheques  as part of their drug awareness campaign.

Kathy Sieppert (seen in all photos) and Rolly Aitken  (seen in
Youngstown photos) handed out the awards on  May 28 at both schools.

Students wrote essays, designed posters or filmed  videos that related
to the theme of addictions.

First place winners in their category won $50, second  place won $40
and third won $30.

At the provincial level, students from both Hanna and  Youngstown won
awards. Kassidy Lockhart won third in  the intermediate poster
contest, winning $50. Ashley  Cheney won third in the senior poster
contest, winning  $75. Tim Armstrong, James Frobb and Taylor Tolton
won  $250 for winning first place in the senior video  contest.

Armstrong, Frobb and Tolton also won first place at the  national
level for their video, which won them another  $300.

Youngstown school also received an award in recognition  of their
support of the drug awareness program and  their efforts to increase
awareness of the harmful  effects of addictive behaviors.

Drug addictions have serious consequences for both  addicts and their
families. The members of the Royal  Purple have been working across
the country to make  students more aware of the harm addictions can do
to  their lives.
