No Drug Lords, Landlords, People Growing Pot, Or Cooking Crystal Meth
Attended A Colwood Council Public Hearing To Protest The City's
Controlled Substance Bylaw

SUBSTANCE CONTROL BYLAW FLYING LOW ON PUBLIC RADAR

No drug lords, landlords, people growing pot, or cooking crystal meth
attended a Colwood council public hearing to protest the city's
controlled substance bylaw.

The tough bylaw, when it passes at council's next meeting,
establishes penalties that could reach as high as a mortgage when the
illegal operations are uncovered.

The primary aim of the bylaw is to warn landlords and property owners
about the penalties faced if they don't keep tabs on tenant
activities, or if they decide to get involved in producing illegal drugs.

Most municipalities in the regional district have passed, or are
about to pass, similar laws that are formally known as nuisance
(controlled substance) bylaws.
