THE IRONY OF MIXED MESSAGES

Drugs - Re: "Kids abuse drug to study," April 23.

I hope the irony of your story is not lost on your
readers.

For decades, schools have encouraged the use of Ritalin to curb some
children's unmanageable behaviours.

What are children supposed to think when we preach zero tolerance on
one hand and encourage drug use on the other?

We should be concerned about the mixed messages we are sending our
youth.

Common sense tells us we should be teaching responsible use and proper
behaviour to our children, not which brand-name drugs to try.
