POT SMOKE-IN SET FOR 4:20 TOMORROW

If you smell skunk outside the Vancouver Art Gallery tomorrow
afternoon, check your watch.

It will likely read 4:20 p.m. when an estimated 8,000 marijuana users
are expected to gather for what could be one of the largest pot
rallies in the weed world.

"This is not going to be a protest, this is going to be a massive
celebration and party," Marc Emery, a.k.a. Vancouver's infamous
Prince of Pot, said yesterday.

"It'll be huge, and if it's a sunny day, it'll be the largest one of
its kind in the world -- I'm sure of it."

A global smoke-in is scheduled to be held at 4:20 p.m. on the 20th
day of the fourth month -- 420 is a euphemism for cannabis culture.

The term got its name in the 1970s from a group of teens from San
Rafael High School in California who used to meet every day after
school at 4:20 p.m. to satisfy their need for weed, according to Wikipedia

Emery said in keeping with the spirit of the Canucks playoff drive,
he'll wear his Vancouver jersey adorned with the number 420 .

"It'll be a party tonight downtown [if the Canucks eliminate the
Dallas Stars] and it will crest into tomorrow," Emery predicted,
adding the rally will begin around 12:30 p.m. and run until around 5:30.

Emery's extradition hearing is slated for May 28 -- almost two years
after he was arrested for allegedly selling pot seeds to Americans.
He is being sought along with co-accused Greg Williams and Michelle Rainey.
