ROUTINE GROW-OP BUST ANYTHING BUT

A Vancouver firefighter has been arrested after police took down a
suspected grow-op in his suburban home.

Delta police say they were acting on a tip Thursday afternoon when
they seized 380 plants with a street value of $140,000.

The news came as a shock to Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services
spokesperson Capt. Rob Jones-Cook, who learned about the arrest only
after being phoned by a newspaper reporter.

"It's something that took us quite by surprise," Jones-Cook said yesterday.

"We as a fire department expect all of our employees to demonstrate
good judgment. So if this should be true ... then appropriate action
would be taken at the conclusion of any court case."

Police are recommending charges involving production, possession and
trafficking of a controlled substance.
