SIMPSON FACING CHARGES OF TRAFFICKING, SENTENCING ADJOURNED

AMHERST - Within minutes of his Supreme Court sentencing for counts of
possession, trafficking and producing marijuana being adjourned,
Rickey Logan Simpson was taken into custody and faces additional
charges of trafficking the same substance.

Crown attorney Paul Drysdale told Justice Felix Cacchione that two
officers from Amherst Police Department, including Sgt. Tim Hunter,
were at the back of the courtroom to take Simpson into custody where
he would be charged with trafficking marijuana.

Unaware of the charges, Simpson spoke in court.

"I told you before that I was going to continue doing this because
there are people that I need to treat. If I'm going to be taken into
custody, well, what a system we have," he said to Justice Cacchione.
Justice Cacchione told Drysdale to ensure Simpson, if charged, be
arraigned and appear at a bail hearing in the afternoon.

Simpson will appear in Supreme Court on Church St. for sentencing on
Jan. 18, 2008 at 10:30 a.m.
