TAKE PLAN TO HASTINGS

Editor:

Reducing the number of beds still isn't enough. You cannot just build
as you like. Even though I don't live in the neighbourhood-I live
three blocks away-I can understand how hard it would be if my
neighbourhood was chosen.

While I'm not against helping drug addicts, building a 32-bed
recovery home is not the right thing to do.

If you think you're helping the community by setting up a large place
to cure drug addicts, you're wrong. You will only create another
problem in that area. This city has enough problems such as
vandalism, homelessness, violence, etc., let alone drug problems.

Do you want to bring more drug problems to Richmond? Haven't you
learnt the impact that having drug addicts around will bring?

If you're really that desperate to build a bigger institution to help
drug addicts, I'd suggest you build one in the Hastings neighbourhood
or start a drug prevention program instead. Prevention is better than a cure.
