REAL DRUG CULTURE PICTURE PAINTED FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

On Monday, September 17th, the students at EMCS received a special
back to school treat from the Leadership class.

A very talented speaker, Jerome Bouvier, came to visit the school and
gave the students a chance to relax amidst the hectic beginnings of
school, and hear his amazing story.

Jerome spoke of his past, riddled with drugs, and the culture
surrounding it. He talked about how he was at the pinnacle horse
training, and lost it all because of drug abuse.

He captivated the students, and gave them a chance to see what the
real world of drug culture is like. He wasn't harsh or threatening at
all, but painted a crisp, clear picture of how treacherous the culture can be.

Many students enjoyed the clear message, and thought it was a good
thing that there wasn't any sugar coating used. The students were so
much into the presentation when the bells rang - even for lunch -
everyone stayed seated, and listened.

Jerome brought a new point of view to drug use, and to the drug free
zone, and many students want him back next year. Jerome gave the
students laughter, tears, a sense of responsibility, and truth; all
features that will not be soon forgotten.
