ZANESVILLE COPS ARRESTED

COLUMBUS -- Three Zanesville police officers remained locked up in
the Franklin County jail today following their arrest Monday on
federal charges resulting from an alleged cocaine distribution ring.

Officers Sean Beck, 28, Trevor Fusner, 31, and Chad Mills, 29, were
arrested by the FBI and Muskingum County sheriff's deputies on
charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

The locations of their arrests were not released by authorities.

The men were scheduled to appear in the U.S. District Court Southern
District of Ohio in Columbus at 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to Fred
Alverson of the U.S. Attorney's Office.

"They will make their initial appearance before a magistrate at 10
a.m. and we expect the judge will schedule a detention hearing for
Friday," said Alverson. "Until the hearing is held today, the
documents related to the case, including affidavits, are sealed."

A spokesperson with the Zanesville Police Department said a press
conference was expected to be held later today, but no additional
information was available because the documents remained sealed as of
Jeffersonian press time Tuesday.

Zanesville Police Chief Eric Lambes was unavailable for comment
Tuesday morning.

The case is being investigated by the U.S. Attorney's Office in
Columbus and the FBI.

Alverson said the FBI was also expected to release information
regarding the case and arrests Tuesday following the court hearing.

According to unconfirmed reports, Beck is associated with the police
department's canine division. Fusner and Mills are listed as patrol officers.
