REMNANTS OF METH LAB FOUND

A person out for an early morning walk at Williams Park stumbled upon
13 pails of extremely toxic sludge last Wednesday (Jan. 17).

Around 6:30 a.m., Township firefighters and Langley RCMP were called
out to the area of 70A Avenue and 234 Street, to deal with the dumped
pails of brown liquid.

"It was quickly determined that the brown liquid was remnants or
byproduct of a meth lab," said police spokesperson Cpl. Diane Blain.

A hazardous materials company was called by the fire department to
safely remove the pails. The pails haven't been traced back to the
meth lab, yet. Langley RCMP's drug section is investigating.

It's believed the pails were dumped in the early morning hours.
Luckily, they were dumped on the road and not into a watercourse or
spilled into the park.

Langley's rural areas have been popular dumping grounds for the
byproducts of meth labs. Huge drums, empty and full, have been found
in farmer's fields. Firefighters have recovered empty drums or pails
in ditches as well.

The damage and environmental impact of meth lab sludge dumped into
the environment, sewer and waterways isn't fully known yet.
