POT BUSTS POOR VALUE FOR MONEY SPENT

Re: "Marijuana busts set a record," Aug. 31.

While parroting the official report from the RCMP, you fail to
mention some important statistics.

Even though it may seem large, the amount seized represents a drop in
the bucket of B.C.'s production of this harmless herb. (The only harm
being due to a fight over the last bag of cheese puffs.)

In terms of effectiveness for time and money spent, the exercise was
also ludicrous.

If one had just purchased the weed on the open market, it would have
been cheaper and we would have a few more officers doing their
primary job of catching violent criminals.
