TWO SHOT AT GROW OP

A marijuana grow operation may have led to the shooting of two Burnaby
men early Thursday morning in what police call a "grow rip."

The Burnaby RCMP were called to Claude Avenue where they discovered
the "grow rip," which means someone decided to steal marijuana from a
grow-op, said Cpl. Jane Baptista of the Burnaby RCMP.

"The grower gets upset and a confrontation can ensue," she
said.

A male was found in the area and transported to the hospital with
non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Police then found a marijuana grow operation in the 5400 block of
Claude Avenue and took a 33-year-old man into custody who now faces
charges.

Later, another man showed up at the hospital with non-life-threatening
gunshot wounds. Police are not releasing any further information at
this time as the investigation is still in its early stages.

They believe, however, that the shooting wasn't a random attack and
the residence was targeted for its marijuana.
