DRUG DEATHS SPARK COCAINE WARNING

Police have issued a cocaine warning following five suspected
drug-related deaths within two months in the Lothian and Borders force area.

Detectives said investigations were continuing, but they believed
that "standard quality" cocaine was one of the drugs involved in the deaths.

A spokesman said they highlighted the danger of cocaine use,
particularly when mixed with other drugs.

The deaths, which occurred in June and July, were in the Edinburgh area.

The police spokesman added: "These tragedies emphasise the fact that
cocaine is an inherently dangerous drug.

"Users must be aware that its effects are less predictable when it is
mixed with other drugs."
