CHEMFREE GRAD STILL GOING AHEAD

Even though local school divisions have amalgamated into one large
division, and this may have brought on some concerns, there will still
be a chemfree graduation at Estevan Comprehensive School.

Graduation at the school is set for June 29.

The South East Cornerstone School Divison board feels this activity is
important, but it is not offering a board member to chair the
committee, as was the case in the past with the Estevan Comprehensive
board.

With the need still being there, and the fact that the night keeps
grads together and safe in a chemical free environment, board member
Pam Currie felt she should volunteer her time to ensure that the grads
of 2006 enjoy the same format on graduation night.

This year will mark the 19th annual chemfree graduation, and in the
past there has been a 95 per cent turnout.

Since graduation is happening on a Thursday (June 29), Currie said the
volunteer help has been less than needed. She said any parents, who
have a student graduating this year and would like to help out on grad
night, they should give Currie a call at 634-4069.

"We still want to make grad night a wonderful evening for 2006," said
Currie.

This year's graduation is taking place at the end of the school. In
the past, the event has been held the first Friday in June.
