DRUG EDUCATION NEEDED IN THE HOME

Editor, The Bulletin;

When an RCMP officer came to my home and told me that my child was
dead, I ranted and raved about drug dealers. His comment to me was
that for every dealer that goes down, there is one or more to replace him.

Now, I realize that a demand has been established and someone will fill it.

We can put blame on drug dealers but each person who uses drugs is
responsible for that first choice. After that, they may lose that
agency to addiction.

Is tougher sentencing for drug dealers an answer? I doubt it, for
many dealing is the means to the next fix. Addiction loses conscience
and only fears not being fed.

I believe we need to educate in our homes. Our children need to know
what happens when we chemically change our brain. They may believe it
won't happen to them if they use but really it's a matter of just how
horrific it will get.
