ADDICTION ADVICE OFFERED SOON

The effects of addiction extend far beyond the person with the
problem, says the Comox Valley Mental Health and Addiction Services.

The family, friends, colleagues and employers are also impacted, and
these individuals often feel powerless and unaware of what to expect
and how to help.

Comox Valley Mental and Addiction Services has developed a group to
address these concerns. The "Addiction and Recovery Education" series
aims to provide information about what addiction and recovery are; how
people change their behaviour; how to help someone with an addiction
problem; what is available locally; and self-care.

The four-session series will run Tuesday evenings from 7--9 p.m.
beginning May 9. Registration is required. Lillian Ramsden, addictions
counsellor, and Sam Sommers, addictions team co-ordinator, will
present the series.
