11 TEST POSITIVE IN SCHOOL DRUG TESTS

Of 156 random drug tests given to Grapevine-Colleyville students this
spring, 11 were positive for illegal drugs.

Of 20 students screened for steroids, none were positive.

The district began testing students in extra-curricular activities
after nine Colleyville Heritage High School athletes revealed a year
ago that they had used illegal anabolic steroids in spring 2004.

In the latest round of tests, of 35 Grapevine High School students
tested, 5 had positive results; of 38 students Colleyville Heritage
High School students tested, two were positives; of 38 Colleyville
Heritage students tested, four were positive; of 45 Grapevine High
students tested, none were positive.

Three tests were labeled as positive because the students refused to
be tested. The other positive tests were for marijuana and
amphetamines.
