CONTRACT FOR DETOX CENTRE AWARDED

PCL Constructors Westcoast Incorporated has been given a $6.7-million
contract to construct a detox centre in Whalley.

The province announced PCL will construct the specialized Withdrawal
Management Centre on 94A Avenue, adjacent to Surrey Memorial Hospital.

The site, owned by the Fraser Health Authority, was chosen as it
provides a centrally accessible location for clients. The Surrey
Memorial Hospital Foundation donated a portion of the land for the
centre, which will include the withdrawal management area, space for a
future "daytox" program and additional office space.

The detox facility is expected to be complete in early 2007.
