ANTI-DRUG DRIVE UP IN SCHOOLS

Representatives from different anti-drug enforcement agencies have
started an intensified campaign among around 140 private and public
high schools in Oriental Negros to make students aware of the
dangers of illegal drugs.

The campaign, spearheaded by the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drug
Council and Task Force 24, came as more drug personalities were
arrested in sweeping operations, mostly in Dumaguete City.

Earlier, Gov. George Arnaiz said the fight against illegal drugs
must be a coordinated effort and the responsibility of parents and
local government units.

Based on latest statistics from the Philippine Drug Enforcement
Agency, Central Visayas ranked number 3 in the total number of
illegal drug dependents placed at more than 11,000.

The figure for the whole country is estimated at 6.2 million illegal
drug dependents.
