TRY SAHTLAM SOLUTION FOR YOUBOU DRUG HOUSE

Dear editor,

Sixty people in Youbou are frustrated about drug activity in their area.

The local police propose a bylaw where authorities can knock on your
door and demand a search of your house or else you risk having
utility services cut for refusal. Local MLA Doug Routley says police
suffer from lack of resources.

First of all, Routley's NDP government is the root cause of the
problem with Youbou. In its wisdom it deleted Clause 7 from the
forest act. This quickly resulted in the mill closing and the loss of
a local industrial tax base and jobs. I don't agree with the creation
of this bylaw. It could possibly be abused by authorities and friends.

I believe the answer to this local drug house problem, is to adopt
the same strategy the people in Sahtlam did. Blockade the house 24
hours a day till they move. It's legal now in the CVRD jurisdiction.
Precedence has been set.
