A MARIJUANA TEST CASE

DID you ever take a good look at those people who march in the
streets with signs wanting to legalize marijuana?

Bottom line, they are a bunch of lazy old hippie types, high school
kids with low grades and never at school, and college kids not much
interested in an education, but want to party and use drugs. This
gives the good kids who want to do something with their lives and be
good, responsible, productive citizens a bad name.

Some years ago I looked after an apartment building and had to deal
with all kinds of problems with the use of marijuana. I don't know
how many times I was summoned to the hallways to find a light blue
haze of smoke and marijuana smell. On one occasion tenants were in
the hallway with small kids and some with infants, sick and dizzy,
getting somewhat high. They all had to be taken outside to get away
from it. The police were called and found out it was coming from two
apartments.

Now I hear some clown wants to use Thunder Bay as a test ground for
legal marijuana use ("Two step up to challenge Mayor Peterson," Aug.
30). Well here is one of your test results.

Research in the study of this drug has shown some improvement in some
medical conditions and I would rather see it used in this way.
