WRONGHEADED LEGISLATIVE BILL ACTUALLY WILL ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO TRY METH

The Alaska State Senate has voted 18-2 to put tens of thousands
Alaskans in jail, with a felony offense, for having possession of
more than 4 ounces of marijuana ("Senate passes bill criminalizing
pot possession," Jan. 25). House Bill 149 equates meth with pot,
which will actually encourage the spread of meth use. The young will
try pot and find nothing wrong and then will try meth, which is
addictive and very harmful. Felony laws against using pot only filled
the courts and jails while not slowing the people's use of the herb.
The Senate's action will spread the use of meth and put your sons and
daughters in jail, with a felony that equates with child molesters
and murderers, for only possession of marijuana.

Only two senators, Johnny Ellis and Tom Wagoner, had the courage to
vote against this tyranny.

Wake up, Alaskans, because our Senate is out of control with
ignorance and religious fanaticism, and with the Murkowskis pulling
the strings, we as free people are in big trouble.
