The province gave VIHA $1.2 million last spring for the new addictions treatment resources. Nanaimo is getting three withdrawal management beds, or detox beds, and three residential stabilization beds. The beds were supposed to be in place over the summer, but the organization responsible for developing a plan to put the beds in the community said in August it was not ready to open them for use. A VIHA spokesperson said it is still not known when an announcement will come on when the beds are available. - --- MAP posted-by: Elaine
