Author: Will Greenlee, POLICE DISCOVER ANOTHER GROW HOUSE

Police over the weekend discovered another marijuana grow house that
might be related to 60 others busted since May, according to a
sergeant and a report obtained Monday.

Police on Saturday entered the home in the 1300 block of Southwest
Jerico Avenue after noticing pry marks on the front and back doors,
as if the home had been - or was in the process of being -
burglarized, a report shows. The front door also was slightly ajar.

Inside, investigators found about 200 pot plants, some of which had
been harvested, Sgt. Todd Schrader said.

Schrader said detectives must do additional work to determine whether
this home is related to the dozens of others hit over the past months.

Officials last week announced the local investigation has branched
into a large-scale federal prosecution that has charged 35 owners and
tenants with various drug crimes. The grow house operation has links
to New Jersey .

The New Jersey business allegedly recruited growers by promising to
buy them homes with the caveat they farm marijuana for at least two
years in the residences.
