SENDING A MESSAGE

What good is electing Democrats if they do nothing for the people?
The Sept. 12 primary sent a clear message to Democratic incumbents
Herb Kohl, Gwen Moore and Jeff Plale that their constituents have had
enough of their failed leadership. Ben Masel, a Madison hippie who
ran no campaign, received more than 50,000 votes in his race against
Herb Kohl. More than 700 people cast write-in ballots against Gwen
Moore, and Jeff Plale "won" his primary 70%-30% over Donovan Riley, a
man who pulled out of the race in disgrace more than a month ago.
Many Democrats have had enough of these lousy leaders and sent that
message by voting for anybody but the incumbent. With Democrats like
these, who needs Republicans?

Sen. Kohl's career is that of a do-nothing senator who has stood by
and done nothing to join Sen. Feingold's campaign against the corrupt
Bush junta. His vote for the outrageous Republican bankruptcy bill
proved he votes for the elite and to maintain his massive fortune
over the interests of the people. Gwen Moore's first term in Congress
has been a dismal disaster. One independent group rated her 432 out
of 435 in terms of influence and she set a Wisconsin record for
missing votes. Jeff Plale's claim to fame was a secret plot to wrest
control of the airport and hand it over to a bunch of his business
cronies. We can do better than these people who seem to care more
about amassing power and money than in representing the interests of
the people they claim to serve.
