ONE PERSON KILLED, TWO SERIOUSLY INJURED IN GLENGARRY GROW-OP SHOOTING

Gun Found; Two Men Taken Into Custody

Greenfield - One man is dead and another two men in critical
condition were airlifted to an Ottawa Hospital in a drug-related
triple shooting near Maxville Friday.

Police found two adult males who had been shot and one man lying dead
at a home on Kenyon Concession Road 5 in Greenfield after responding
to a call that there had been a shooting at the residence.

Police took two men into custody and located a firearm at the scene.

"The shooting involved a marijuana grow-operation at the residence,"
confirmed OPP Const. Joel Doiron.

A large area in the tiny town of Greenfield was cordoned off by
police on the foggy Friday night. No one on the scene was speaking to
reporters.

Doiron said an OPP helicopter, Tactics and Rescue Unit and canine
teams were needed to secure and investigate the scene.

A neighbour said she heard shootings early in the morning.

"We heard shotguns around 6:30 a.m., but we just thought it was
hunters," said Lise Leblanc, who lives across the street. When
Leblanc returned home shortly after the police had arrived, she found
her home blocked off by police tape and was initially worried about
her husband, a local barber.

"The police told us what happened, that there had been some shootings
and I felt better after I called my husband at the barber shop to
make sure he was OK," she said. She said the home is quite far away
from the road, and said although it is difficult to see any activity,
she did say the owners built a brand new large shed about a year ago.

"We saw a helicopter coming and going, and we weren't allowed to
drive around here between 4 and 8:30 p.m." Leblanc said.

The investigation is still ongoing under OPP Det.-Insp. Randy Millar,
Doiron said.

Police would not release any more information.
