WARREN WILSON IN TOP POT SPOT

SWANNANOA - To be blunt, it's not the type of free publicity a
college is looking for: No. 1 in the "reefer madness" category.

Warren Wilson College took top ranking in that category, which gauges
how widely used marijuana is on campus, in the Princeton Review book,
"Best 361 Colleges," on sale today.

The college also ranked at the top for "Students most nostalgic for
Bill Clinton," No. 3 three for "Birkenstock-wearing, tree-hugging,
clove-smoking vegetarians," 14th for "most beautiful campus" and 15th
for "most politically active."

"I guess you have to wonder how 800-student Warren Wilson landed on
five of the book's nationwide lists," college spokesman Ben Anderson
said. "But it's certainly nice to be included in Princeton Review
categories such as 'most politically active' and 'most beautiful campus.'"

Kim Miller, a Warren Wilson senior from Morristown, Tenn., said the
"reefer madness" results were, ahem, overblown.

"People seem to have the impression that a lot of people here smoke
marijuana, but from my personal experience I've not ever encountered
it that much," said Miller, who said she doesn't smoke pot.

The book asked 115,000 students at 361 colleges to rate their schools
on subjects ranging from financial aid to best campus food.
