PROHIBITION WON'T SOLVE METH PROBLEM

Regarding the article, "Souder blasts drug czar's approach to fighting
meth" (Feb. 17):

As a police officer I learned quickly that every drug dealer arrested
or killed was quickly replaced. The meth lab is simply the moonshine
still of the 21st century, and like stills, they are replaced as fast
as we bust one up.

Someone, inform Rep. Mark Souder that drug prohibition will always
guarantee an America saturated with illegal drugs, no matter how many
more billions he throws at the issue.

Souder finds it hard to say the three hardest words in English; I was
wrong. Until he does, his ego will force him to waste more billions
trying to make prohibition effective.
