MARIJUANA CAN GIVE RELIEF FOR THE VERY SICK

To the Editor:

The Supreme Court this Monday slipped into a self-righteous mode when
it made a law that set aside individual state laws that were designed
to help severely ill residents live a better life. ("Top court:
Medicinal marijuana breaks law," June 7) I don't use drugs and never
have, however I have seen firsthand the use of marijuana by my
brother-in-law before he eventually died in his fight with leukemia
for over 15 years.

He had chemotherapy many times that made him terribly sick and his
doctor prescribed marijuana that relieved the sickness and allowed him
to continue work. Until I saw this, I was totally against using the
weed for anything. I have to repress thoughts and wishes that our
"most supreme men and women" who sit on the Supreme Court suffer from
a sickness that marijuana would help them, so they could walk a mile
in the shoes of the very sick in this country on chemotherapy before
they deny them much needed relief. Remember, this court is shredding
the 10th Amendment by approving this law, usurping state laws.
