THE LAW IS THE LAW, SEND DEALERS TO JAIL

To the Editor of The Eagle:

I am in agreement with Molly MacGregor's letter of May 5 stating she was fed
up with the suggestions that those arrested in Great Barrington should not
be prosecuted. As for the argument that all teens or those in their early 20
engage in selling drugs like it's some rite of passage, well I'm happy that
for the good of society, that is not at all true. I also think that being
"enlightened" doesn't mean ignoring the law based on the offender's
economic level or race. That is just not democratic.

Finally, perhaps the punishment would be a wake-up call for these
offenders to straighten out their lives. Obviously, by selling drugs,
they weren't headed in the right direction.
