As for the argument that all teens or those in their early 20 engage in selling drugs like it's some rite of passage, well I'm happy that for the good of society, that is not at all true. I also think that being "enlightened" doesn't mean ignoring the law based on the offender's economic level or race. That is just not democratic. Finally, perhaps the punishment would be a wake-up call for these offenders to straighten out their lives. Obviously, by selling drugs, they weren't headed in the right direction.
