STICK TO FACTS

To the Editor:

I find it amazing that Joyce Roth would willfully ignore what we know to be
the truth, and call for the continuation of the crusade against marijuana
and its users (Letters, March 28).

She states incorrectly that the Mounties killed at Mayerthorpe "died in the
line of duty in the war against drugs (marijuana). Not.
They were there to investigate a series of auto thefts. Then she goes on to
talk about drugs killing people. There is not one death attributable to
marijuana consumption in the history of mankind.

If she truly believes what she says about drugs causing death should be
banished, why then is she not calling for the outlawing of alcohol, tobacco,
aspirin, many arthritis drugs, and cars that can exceed 10 km an hour?
Ms. Roth, you really should avail yourself of the facts before you put your
foot firmly in your mouth, as you did in that letter.
