KILLERS ON A SPREE: 71 DEAD IN 90 DAYS

THE death toll of unsolved killings in Davao City for the first 90
days of the year has reached 71 as two more men, both trisikad
drivers, were added to the ever-growing list in the past two days.

The 70th victim was killed in Barangay San Antonio, Agdao, a day short
of his birthday and just a few hours after the 69th victim was killed
in Cabantian, Buhangin, Thursday morning.

While the 71st victim was killed inside a room in front of his live-in
partner in Talomo.

Raymund Juntilla, 23, trisikad driver, and resident of Del Pilar
Street, Green Village, Barangay San Antonio in Agdao, was standing
along the roadside waiting for passengers on Del Pilar Street at
around 1:30 p.m. when three men on two motorcycles -- one violet and
one black -- arrived, PO1 Richard Dionisio of the Sta. Ana Police
Precinct said.

One of the men alighted and shot Juntilla thrice at close range before
speeding off via R. Castillo Street.

Senior Insp. Tomas Dimmandal, of the Scene of Crime Operations (Soco)
team declared Juntilla dead on the spot with gunshot wounds in the
right cheek, lower portion of the neck, and chin.

Recovered at the crime scene were three empty shells of a caliber .45
pistol.

Meanwhile, Raymundo, Juntilla's father, said in a radio interview that
he suspects his son was a drug user but swears he was never a pusher.

Juntilla, who is supposed to celebrate his birthday Friday, was
brought to the Patalinghug Funeral Homes for autopsy.

At around 10 a.m. of the same day, Dindo Rebung, 27, barber, was
gunned down by an unidentified man, who barged inside the JR Barber
Shop at Country Homes, Cabantian while he was sleeping.

Friday morning at sitio Durian in Talomo district, Michael Villaber,
25, a trisikad driver of Baliok, Toril was killed in the presence of
his live-in partner.

Villaber was resting inside his shack with his live-in partner
identified as Juvy Margate, 23, at around 7 a.m. when an unidentified
man barged inside the shack and shot Villaber twice in the head.

It was learned that Villaber and Margate had just taken their
breakfast at a nearby eatery.

The suspect hurriedly approached a waiting motorcycle outside with
another unidentified man onboard and sped off to unknown direction.

Villaber, who succumbed to two gunshot wounds in the head, was
declared dead by the responding Scene of Crime Operations (Soco) team
lead by Dr. Tomas Dimaandal, medico-legal of the Philippine National
Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory.

Police recovered two gun shells of a caliber .45 pistol at the crime
scene.

The three police precincts investigating the three killings still do
not have a suspect.
