MPP TAKES AIM AT HOME GROWS

Cambridge MPP Gerry Martiniuk introduced a private member's bill Tuesday
that takes aim at marijuana home grow operations.

Called the Protection Against Illicit Drug Grow Houses Act, the bill would
ensure municipalities aren't paying the cleanup costs that occur when a
grow operation is shut down. The bill would also alert future buyers that
the property was once used to grow marijuana.

"It attempts to ensure the public won't continue paying for cleanups in
regards to the property," Martiniuk said. "It also requires sellers of real
estate to reveal that the house has been used as a grow house, and provides
greater right of inspections by landlords."
