THE JURY IS STILL OUT ON LEGALIZING POT

The following letters were received in response to The Sun's four
editorials about marijuana last week.

The recent murders of four RCMP officers in Alberta shows you can't fight
fire with fire. It would help to ease up on the laws against growing
marijuana, since it's impossible to wipe out grow-ops completely. There
will always be someone desperate enough to make money from them.

Trying to wipe out grow-ops is like trying to ban child-pornography from
the Internet. As long as there's money in it, these activities will continue.

I heard on the news the other day a quote that really echoed in my head:
"It's not going to help if we have more law enforcement. If we get more
police, we're just going to have more police. It won't really solve any
problems."

I believe there is a resolution through non-violent ways. If we react with
firearms, chances are that the growers will be even better prepared.
