TIME TO MAKE MARIJUANA LEGAL

Cannabis - Re: "Hypocrisy," Letter, March 7.

Craig Chunta claims that decriminalizing marijuana fuels the demand for grow
operations.

Is this to say that a more lenient law will make smokers use more? Or that
it will produce more users?

I know many people who use marijuana and they couldn't care less about the
law regarding the drug. Most of them don't even know the punishment for
their petty crime.

Also, it seems unlikely that someone would be very concerned with the law if
they were trying cannabis, or any drug for that matter.

Decriminalization is a step towards legalization. If murderous grow
operators are a concern to you, consider that legalization will eliminate
these criminals. Not as much harm comes from the drug as the law surrounding
it -- not to mention billions of marijuana tax dollars helping to nourish
our country.
