METH LAB FACTS

Some of the materials used to make meth include: iodine, red phosphorous,
lye, Drano, paint thinner, ammonia, gasoline, antifreeze, lantern fuel and
acetone.

A meth lab must have a heat source, a reaction vessel and the chemicals.

Police say meth labs tend to give themselves away because the cooking
process produces very strong chemical smells.

Other indicators that a meth lab may be operating in a neighborhood are: A
high volume of traffic, large amounts of trash such as lantern fuel cans,
antifreeze containers, red-stained coffee filters, drain cleaner and duct tape.

If residents suspect illegal drug activity in their neighborhoods, contact
Metro at 779-4549.
